As an IB World School, The International School of the Hague (ISH) offers young people of all nationalities between the ages of 4 and 18 top quality international education in a caring environment.
We aim for academic success and also encourage sporting and creative abilities in a community based on honesty, fairness, open-mindedness and tolerance.
Our curriculum is totally international, fully accredited by the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and the Council of International Schools (CIS) organization. Years 7-11 offer the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP), and Years 12-13 offer the IB Diploma Programme (IB DP). In addition, Dutch is taught to all students as part of integrating them into the host community. Supporting our students is key in all aspects, especially within our Mother Tongue classes, the English Language Resource Center for speakers of other languages and the Learning Support Centers that our school has to offer. Small group sizes and high academic pass rates show the benefits.
We are very proud of the quality of education that we provide for our students and ISH can honestly say that it is a true International School with 1600 students on roll of over 90 nationalities. Our mission statement reflects this “Learning is the heart of the International School of The Hague” and we aim to develop knowledgeable, principled and lifelong learners at the school.
The International School of The Hague is an eco-school and was awarded Green Flag status, a hallmark recognized by the UN. Many extra and complementary activities and partnerships take place between the school and the local community as well as international organizations. ISH organizes Munish, the second largest Model United Nation conference in the Netherlands, participates in the International Moot Court and has a very active team dealing with Global Network Issues, that hosts a variety of different activities.
We have a theatre, which can be used for lectures, assemblies and performances, two full sized gyms, two fully equipped Library Resource Centers, ICT suites, science laboratories, art-music and drama centers, as well as a conference room, a multi-functional convention room, classrooms and a canteen. In the center of the school is our 'international plaza' which is used for exhibitions and displays.
Furthermore, the location of our school provides many opportunities to take learning outdoors. We are only a five minute walk from the sea and dunes and benefit from a range of nearby sporting facilities at our disposal – tennis courts, football and hockey pitches, a golf course, and even a tenpin bowling alley.
In 2016 ISH will begin building a bespoke new Primary building that will be linked to the main building, as well as provide more space for our student body. This will only go to further improve the quality of education that the school gives.
